AroundMe ("we", "us", "our") operates the AroundMe mobile application and the website at aroundme.pro. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
1. Data We Collect
1.1 Account data
- Phone number: Used for OTP-based login. We do not share your number with other users unless you choose to connect.
- Name: The name you provide during onboarding, shown on your profile.
- Profile photo: Optional. Used to help others recognise you.
1.2 Location data
- Pincode / zone: We use your pincode to match you with jobs, listings, and users in your area. We do not track your live GPS location. Location is approximate (pincode-level), not precise.
1.3 Verification data (optional)
- Government ID: If you choose to verify your identity, we may collect a government-issued ID photo.
- Selfie video: A short selfie video for identity verification. This data is stored securely and is never made public.
1.4 Activity data
- Posts you create, applications you submit, orders you place or receive, reviews you leave, and your interactions within the app.
- Usage data such as app opens, feature usage, and crash reports — used to improve the app.
1.5 Device data
- Device model, app version, and a device identifier — used for security, fraud prevention, and blocklist enforcement.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To create and manage your account.
- To match you with jobs, listings, and users in your zone.
- To show your reliability score and verification status to other users.
- To send you notifications about new jobs, orders, and updates.
- To prevent fraud, spam, and abuse through device and phone blocklists.
- To comply with legal obligations under Indian law.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Firebase: For phone authentication (OTP delivery), push notifications, and crash reporting. Firebase may process your phone number for OTP delivery.
- AdMob: For in-app advertisements. AdMob may use device identifiers to serve ads. You can opt out of personalised ads in your device settings.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Your data is retained while your account is active.
- Suspended/banned accounts: Data is retained for 90 days for dispute resolution, then deleted.
- Permanently deleted accounts: When you or an admin permanently deletes your account, your name, phone number, photo, and bio are wiped immediately. Anonymised activity data (e.g., aggregate counts) may be retained for analytics.
5. Your Rights Under DPDP Act 2023
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Grievance redressal: File a complaint with our Grievance Officer (see below).
- Nomination: Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity.

6. Data Deletion
You can delete your account and personal data at any time:
- In-app: Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently wipes your name, phone, photo, and bio.
- By email: Email grievance@aroundme.pro with your registered phone number and a deletion request.
Deletion is irreversible. Your posts and listings will be archived and no longer visible to other users.
7. Children's Privacy
AroundMe is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact our Grievance Officer.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
